This painting was fun to create. I enjoyed adding different layers of color to add a different dimension to the piece. The initial layers peeking out on the edges of the shapes were too bright before the addition of the abstract shapes painted on top. I love seeing how the colors interact with each other!
The Energy Series
This series begins with high-energy black brushstrokes that move throughout each canvas. Bold colors are chosen to enhance the high energy level and invite the viewer into the piece to explore the layers and movement.
Series Info
Each series begins with a primed canvas and marks made using a paintbrush and black gesso. I prefer the look and feel of working on a 1.5 inch thick, 20×20 inch canvas.
